Nanoose Bay Artist Chris Smith

Christopher Smith is a Vancouver Island glass artist, sculptor, and founder of Glaskrafter Art Glass. Working with glass since 1977, he has spent decades exploring the artistic possibilities of stained, fused, cast, and sculpted glass. From his studio near Nanoose Bay, Christopher creates striking kiln-cast salmon and trout sculptures that celebrate the beauty, spirit, and cultural significance of Pacific Northwest waterways.

Inspired by a lifelong connection to nature, his work combines luminous cast glass with steel, stone, and mixed media elements to capture the movement and resilience of salmon and other wildlife. His distinctive glass fish, often swimming through handcrafted steel eel grass, have become some of the most recognizable and sought-after artworks on Vancouver Island.

Christopher's work is represented in galleries throughout British Columbia and reflects both his artistic mastery and his deep commitment to environmental stewardship and salmon habitat conservation.
